Kang Hussain Baykaro, always followed the advise of Alisher Navoi. But the other advisors, who hated Navoi, were very jealous of him. Finally, they convinced the king that Navoi was saying bad things about him. He called the poet to his palace and asked him to prove his innocence. Navoi would answer the charges, because he believed that the king was already convinced of his duplicity. When he was silent, the king became enraged and ordered that he be put in prison.

The People of CentralAsia calledAlexander of Macedonia, Iskandar Zulkarnayen. It was relieved by them that the people of his land had horns on their heads. It was, also, known by them, that when his hair was cut, he would always kill the barber, because he didn't want anybody to know that he had a horn. In fact, because of this, all the barbers in the land lost their lives.

In Central Asia, and what is now known as the country of Uzbekistan, there is a very great tower. It is situated in the ancient City of Bukhara. The people call it Minaret Kalon, which translated means, “The Great Tower”, but it is also known as the “Tower of Death”. There are many legends about the tower. Many people have been executed there as they were pushed to their deaths from the top.

Once there was a young man who earned his living as a builder. He was a very kind you man, and each day on his way to work he would settle arguments between people in the street and if someone had some kind of difficulty he would always help them. Alisher Navoi, the great distinguished poet, seeing that the young man had such a character, would always try greet him first, which is a sign of great respect and honor in this land. The young man was surprised that Navoi had such a kind attitude toward him.

Alisher Navoi’s father died in his childhood, and Navoi could no longer stay at home, so he moved to Samarkand and studied at the madrassa. Finally, when he finished his studies after many years, he began his journey home.
On his way, as the young scholar was walking to his village, he came to a hill where he met a shepherd. It so happened that it was the shepherd who had been taking care of Navoi’s father’s sheep, and the same man who had helped to raise Navoi.
